Tis the Season Series

Worship Jesus!

On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. (Matthew 2:11)

I love Christmas morning! Watching my kids run downstairs to see their gifts fills me with such joy. When I was a child I struggled to fall asleep on Christmas Eve. I remember wondering why my parents seemed so happy when they didn’t have any gifts to open. How could they be filled with such joy by watching my sister and I open gifts? But once you become a parent, you understand the joy of watching your child receive a present they really wanted.

Worship Jesus

I wonder if that’s how Jesus feels when we accept his free gift of salvation? He must be happy we have realized and acknowledged our true purpose in living. He must celebrate the joy of eternal life with us, knowing we will meet him in heaven one day.

I think of the excitement the Wisemen must have felt after traveling such a long distance to see the long awaited Messiah. I picture them with a hint of the same anticipation and excitement in their hearts as a child who waits for Christmas morning. Yet, I’m certain their excitement far exceeded what a child feels on Christmas morning. How would it feel to know you were about to meet the Savior of the World?

I wonder if I truly show that same excitement and awe for what Christ has done for me? I wonder if my worship has been crowded out by Christmas traditions and holiday celebrations?

And so I want to take the time to remember the God whom I serve. The God I live for. He is worthy of all my praise and adoration.

As you read these verses, spend some time praising God for His holiness. Adore Him.

[Tweet “Psalm 95:6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker!”]

1 Chronicles 16:29

Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;

bring an offering and come before him.

Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.

Psalm 99:9

Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his holy mountain, for the Lord our God is holy.

Psalm 100:2

Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.

We can worship the Lord by living for Him.

What are some ways that you can show Him your love by making your life a living sacrifice?

Romans 12

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Dear Jesus,

Lord, I can’t wait to meet you one day! Until that day, I live my life and make it a living sacrifice for you. May it be pleasing to you, Lord. Forgive me for getting lost in this world of distractions. Renew my mind that I may give you the proper worship you deserve. Thank you for being my reason for living. For giving me purpose. For being my hope. Thank you for the free gift of salvation. I love you.

In Jesus Name,

Merry Christmas!
